HOW DOES IT HELP YOU?
Testing haptoglobin you can obtain a measure of the health status and hygienic conditions of your farms, as haptoglobin concentration increases in response to all kinds of infections. Furthermore, the presence of abnormally low values may be indicative of hemolytic processes since haptoglobin binds to free hemoglobin, forming complexes that will be removed from circulation. Acuvet ELISA is a reliable, species-specific test that has been designed to be used with hemolyzed samples. It does not have interference by hemoglobin as occurs with other haptoglobin assays, in particular the colorimetric method based on haptoglobin-hemoglobin binding.
